What we need: one continuous 4.5 minute take

Every tape is checked by machine the moment it lands. Anything under spec is turned away straight away with the reason, so you can fix it and send another.

  1. At least 4.5 minutes long, recorded in one go. No edits, no splices, no noise reduction.
  2. A wired mic, or your phone recording straight to its own memory. Bluetooth earbuds and headsets will be rejected automatically.
  3. A quiet room. No music, no TV, no traffic.
  4. Read anything you like, or just talk. We are listening to your voice, not your material.
  5. WAV at 44.1 kHz / 16-bit or better, or MP3 at 192 kbps or better.
Two questions before anything else

They decide how we would work together, and we ask everyone the same two, in the same order.

Where will you physically be when you record?
Both answers are real options. Neither is better than the other for your application.
At least 8 characters. This is your login for the dashboard.
You must be 18 or older to take part. We use this only to confirm eligibility.
Pick the one you speak natively. If it is not listed, choose Other and tell us in the notes.
When can you record?
Sessions run 6:00 to 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM to midnight, Monday through Saturday.
It helps us know which postings are working.
Where you live
State law changes what we are allowed to do with a voice recording, so we have to ask.
Have you lived in Illinois at any time in the past 5 years?
Illinois has its own biometric privacy law and your answer changes what that law requires of us. This is a question about jurisdiction, not about you, and it is never used to decide casting.

Questions people actually ask

Do I need voice acting experience?

No. We are casting natural speakers, not performers. If you can hold a relaxed conversation and read cleanly off a page, you qualify.

What am I actually recording?

Conversational speech and short scripted passages, recorded to broadcast standard in our Los Angeles booths. An engineer runs the session, so all you do is talk.

How much time does the whole thing take?

Fifty recorded hours per voice, in three and a half hour sessions. Most people book three sessions a week and finish in five to six weeks.

What are you licensing?

A synthetic voice model trained on your recording sessions, licensed to one client for defined uses. Nothing is built from your audition. You read and sign the licence before your first session, and TRC pays for your own lawyer to review it.

When do I get paid?

Hourly pay lands every two weeks for the hours you recorded. The licence fee is paid on the terms you pick when you sign.

Can I cancel a session?

Yes, up to 24 hours before it starts, straight from your dashboard. Inside that window, message the program team and we will sort it out.

What happens to my audition if I am not cast?

We keep it for up to 12 months and then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time and we do it within 30 days.
